ECALA-funded program staff are welcome to join ECALA and Joeanne Swampy near the River Valley. The River Valley is home to many Indigenous Medicines. Joeanne will guide us in learning more about these Traditional Medicines and how to gather them. Joeanne will share what she has learned from others about these Medicines. As with any medicines, please be mindful about how they may interact with other medications you may be taking.

Joanne will be sharing the importance of offering tobacco while picking. Please bring your own tobacco. You can always check with Chelséa or Wendy if you have questions about tobacco.

Please consider the following before registering:

  • Registration will close on Friday, July 19, at noon.
  • Dinner will not be provided. Bring any snacks and water for yourself. Be mindful that everything you bring onto the Land comes back with you.
  • You will need sharp scissors to cut the medicines and a bag for gathering them
  • Dress considering the weather and the environment: hats, long pants, adequate footwear, long socks, sunscreen, and mosquito/tick repellant are strongly recommended
  • We understand that everyone has personal needs, so please create space to take care of yourself during the event.

If you have any questions, contact Wendy (pd@ecala.org) or Chelséa (pdcoordinator@ecala.org).
