Parenting Plus

Parenting Plus works with low-income parents from a variety of cultural backgrounds to facilitate literacy and learning opportunities using a parent-centred focus. The program facilitates reading, writing, and discussion for parents to teach their children, to set goals for their family, plan effective approaches for enacting learning and literacy plans, and help families improve their problem-solving skills. The parenting program also encourages parents to pass on a love for learning and literacy to their children. Bissell Centre staff benefit from comprehensive training, allowing them to educate and empower parents to use strength-based, non-violent, respectful, research-based strategies in their parenting.
